
Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Crete as public administrative
agency under the supervision of the Ministry of Education Religious Affairs of Greece,
implements the educational policy of the Ministry as far as schooling is concerned, connects
local education agents to central services and organizations, supervises the Regional Centre
of Educational Planning of Crete and administers all the school units of primary and
secondary education of Crete.
It’s main roles are to:
- Implement the educational policy of the Ministry as far as schooling is concerned
- Connect local education agents to central services and organizations
- Supervise the Regional Centre of Educational Design of Crete.
- Administer and Supervise 752 Primary Schools, 183 Secondary Schools, 34 Vocational
Schools, 89240 Students, 10508 teachers - Promote European Orientation to Education
- Support and assist schools participating in European projects
- Implement these projects.

One of the tasks of Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Crete is to
manage the implementation of various European educational projects, and provide
assistance to schools wishing to participate to European projects.
